You may have heard the term “legacy giving” but weren’t

sure what it meant. Here’s a basic definition: it is simply

planning to make a difference, both for yourself and for

a cause that you believe in, through a charitable gift.

The goal of such gifts is to “leave a legacy” that can make

an impact for future generations.

Bequests are a meaningful way to ensure the ability of

NAMI Oklahoma to provide quality education and

support programs to the people it serves. Bequests

can be made in the form of a specific gift of cash,

appreciated securities or property, or as a percentage of

your estate.

Language below may be inserted in your will or as added as a codicil to your existing will:

[Insert your name] give and bequeath to NAMI Oklahoma, the sum of _________Dollars ($_______) for its general charitable purposes; or

[Insert your name] give (__%) of my residuary estate to NAMI Oklahoma for its general charitable purposes.

There are many ways to make legacy gifts that should be discussed with your tax advisor, financial planner or estate attorney to find the appropriate one for your situation. For more information on making a bequest, or to specify a particular purpose for a bequest, please contact Trisha Chapman,  Director of Development, at or 405-601-8283.
